Thanks to DSHT, we experienced so much more than being on our own or with a large bus tour. We were able to see the best and most unique views and places (major attractions, shops, pubs, restaurants, etc.) both on and off the beaten path. Our tour guide, Rory, was excellent and very personable & accommodating. We rode in comfort & ease covering hundreds of miles of incredible scenery while learning Ireland’s rich history and tradition from Rory. He was extremely knowledgeable about Dingle, County Kerry & surrounding areas. He really went above and beyond and we truly enjoyed his company along the way. We definitely received high quality / 1st class service. I highly recommend Dingle Slea Head Tours for your Ireland visit.

“Don’t miss this!”
My husband and I spent the day with Rory in Dingle and the surrounding area. We had one of the best times and enjoyed visiting with Rory. He had so much information and took us to several out of the way places that most tours do not visit. There is no doubt that this experience made Dingle our favourite place that we visited in our 2 weeks in Ireland. Thanks Rory for a great day!!!

“Best way to tour Ireland”

We hired Dingle Slea Head Tours for 6 days out of our 10 day trip to Ireland and it was the best decision we ever made. Rory was always prompt on picking us up; took us to places we would have never known to visit if we drove ourselves or did a large tour. We covered towns starting from Shannon Airport to Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Silvermines and ended in Nenagh. Rory went above and beyond when we decided to change a few sightseeing plans. I ran the Dingle Half Marathon and it was great to drive it before race day and put my mind at ease to see the beauty that would keep my mind occupied from the uphill pain! He was always helpful on places to eat/visit in the evening as well as during our tours. He made you feel so comfortable and we enjoyed getting to know him on a personal basis. His pricing was very reasonable and so worth it. I’m telling all my friends/family who are visiting Ireland to hire DSHT because you won’t experience the real comforts and beauty of out of the ways places in Ireland without him!!

“BEST Dingle peninsula tour”

Rory was our tour leader/driver. He was fabulous. Took us to places only the locals know about and really made the trip memorable. The sites we witnessed and pictures we were able to take will provide us with great memories. We have done tours before but never one so special and memorable. He was witty and knowledgeable about history. Cannot recommend him and his company enough .Rory thank you for everything.

“Wonderful day out”
My parents have visited Ireland on several occasions, but my dad had not been to Dingle since the ’70s and therefore felt a trip was well overdue. My dad (the driver of the pair) was very hesitant to drive based on memories of extremely narrow country roads hugging cliffs dropping off into the sea, but he had never taken an organized group tour before and was not sure he would enjoy it. I therefore arranged for Rory to take them out for the day (pickup and drop off at my parents’ hotel in Killarney) and by coincidence in work travel plans, I was able to join them on the day. I thought the price (350 euro in peak season – the price would have been 250 for pickup and drop off in Dingle) was more than fair compare to private tours I have taken elsewhere, and after the fact, I now think it was quite a bargain.
We ended up spending more than 5 hours out in Dingle and easily could have spent several more hours out if we had wanted to. Rory takes you to various scenic spots around Dingle Peninsula and you could linger as long as you like, walking around and taking photos. Some of the “attractions”, such as the beehive huts, charge admission and Rory leaves it to you whether you would like to pay to enter the premises or just admire from a distance. He also can take you to a local museum, pottery shop, places to buy local crystal, the race track – basically anything to suit your interests and unlike some tour operators, he will not pressure you at all to make any stops – you’re quite at your own leisure. He left us for lunch on our own in Dingle Town and again, let us tell him how much time we wanted to wander the shops and waterfront.
My parents were mostly interested in just admiring the scenery from the car without the stress of driving themselves, and they remarked several times on how useful it was to have a local guide who could take us to spots that we would easily have skipped over on a self-drive or a large bus group tour — several buses followed us along to the major sites but we were able to veer off here and there for visits to smaller spots, like a secluded beautiful beach where Rory takes his daily swims. Rory developed his tour company from a taxi service, so he may not be a tour guide by traditional training, but he and his wife are locals and he has done this tour a million times over, so he could tell us about the history of the sites we visited and my parents just loved hearing his stories about the local characters.
As my dad can be a bit standoffish with strangers, especially chatty strangers, I was a bit wary of how the tour would go, but it turned out beautifully – Rory does not talk your ear off or force small talk, he is friendly in a genuine way, and he very ably managed chatting with all 3 of us in the car. And a note on the car – it was impeccably clean (although almost immediately we loaded it up with sand from Inch beach), Rory provided a bottle of water for each of us, and my parents both commented on how comfortable the ride was.
Rory mentioned that he has done various other tours for customers (mostly Americans) – I was aware he did tours of Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, but he can arrange for trips to spots all over the country. He even has taken someone out for a just week golfing at various golf courses. He volunteered lots of great tips for us – dinner spots in Killarney and places for my parents to visit during the remainder of their trip in western Ireland (which they did, and they raved about all his recommendations). They will likely consider hiring Rory’s company for their next trip to Ireland, now that they know Rory can easily arrange for more than just day trips.
